North Queensland Camera Group is a group of passionate photographers, meeting in Townsville to share and enjoy all aspects of photography. We are a contemporary and progressive camera group. Our members invest time in programs that empower them to reach their photographic goals.

​We meet on the 1st Wednesday of the month at 7:00 pm February to November at the Aitkenvale Library Meeting Room: 4 Petunia Street, Aitkenvale

Learning & Development: these sessions are held monthly, covering a wide range of subjects. To assist in growing your skills, keeping you motivated and up to date with current trends & equipment.

Photographic Excursions: giving you the opportunity to build upon your portfolios and your knowledge. While sharing the fellowship of like minded photographer’s in an all inclusive atmosphere.

Focus Groups; Members who wish to grow their expertise, may elect to lead a specialist focus group. 2020 Focus Group, now open: Adventurers in Macro Photography, which includes workshops & field activities.

North QLd Camera Group Competition | L & D | Focus Groups & Events

Our competitions are judged by qualified judges from the Photographic Society of Queensland. They give valuable advice to assist members in improving their skills. Our club participates in Inter-Club competitions on a regular basis.​

Competitions – The Group offers monthly competitions (February to November) for digital images in Set Subjects, Monochrome, Open and Creative photography. Competitions are run in Divisions, allowing participants to compete in similar skill levels.

Learning & Development – We have an experienced L&D team who present educational material for beginner, intermediate & advanced level photographers. 

This material may consist of a mixture of video presentations, practical demonstrations and open discussions where encouragement and support is provided.  Presentations may also be given by guest speakers and professionals within the industry.  

Social Activities & Field Events – We enjoy organised outings in and around Townsville and further abroad. 

These outings provide members the opportunity to expand their portfolios in an environment that is supportive and inclusive. These excursions also allow members to building lasting relationships with photographers who have similar interests.

What is a Focus Group Focus Groups are usually small groups of photographers, who share an interest in a particular type or genre of photography. They are run for the members by the members, where everyone brings their ideas and thoughts to the table.
